ANSWER QUESTIONS

Many of my customers make their first experiences with professional permanent make-up in my beauty studio. So that you know before your first consultation in my studio what the individual terms are all about, what exactly I carry out for cosmetic treatments in my studio and what advantages they have, you will find the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions from my customers here .

WHAT IS PERMANENT MAKEUP?

With permanent make-up, color pigments are worked into the upper layers of the skin. An extremely fine needle is used for this. Due to this procedure, permanent make-up is one of the cosmetic tattoos on the face, which is used for a wide variety of parts of the face such as eyebrows, eyelashes or lips. However, permanent make-up, also known as PMU or pigmentation, has a significantly shorter shelf life than a classic tattoo.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PERMANENT MAKE-UP AND A TATTOO?

Both in tattooing and in pigmentation, colored pigments are worked into the skin with a needle. However, the difference lies in the details: With permanent make-up, the needle penetrates less deeply into the skin and less color is used overall than with a tattoo.

HOW LONG DOES PERMANENT MAKE-UP LAST?

Many different factors play a role in the durability of permanent make-up. These include skin type and skin thickness, but also personal lifestyle and metabolism. Frequent sunbathing or the individual age must also be taken into account - therefore a general statement as to how long permanent make-up lasts cannot be made. However, a conservative estimate of 1.5 - 3 years until the pigments fade is a realistic value.

DOES PERMANENT MAKE-UP ALSO WORK NATURALLY?

I will work with you to choose the color that suits your taste as well as your personal skin tone. With permanent make-up, the colors can also be easily mixed for an individual result. So I can promise you an absolutely natural result with a permanent make-up treatment in my studio.

Immediately after the treatment, you will usually notice that the treated area is darker than expected. However, this is normal, the color tone will adjust to your natural skin tone as the healing process progresses.

DO I HAVE TO CONSIDER ANYTHING BEFORE THE TREATMENT WITH PERMANENT MAKE-UP?

Before I carry out a treatment in my studio, my customers naturally receive detailed advice. I will show you how I proceed with which type of treatment and also clarify with you what your demands and expectations of permanent make-up are.

I also recommend that you completely avoid nicotine, caffeine or alcohol before the treatment. You should also not have taken any blood thinners before. If you are unsure, for example because you have to take certain medications regularly, I would be happy to discuss further treatment options with you individually.

DOES PERMANENT MAKE-UP ALSO NEED A FOLLOW-UP?

Follow-up treatment of the treated area is absolutely necessary. In the course of the healing process of the skin, parts of the color (up to 70%) are lost again naturally. After 4-8 weeks I will check the result with you and treat the relevant areas for a natural result.

SHOULD I AVOID CERTAIN ACTIVITIES WITH PERMANENT MAKEUP?

You can go on with your life as before, I even ask you to do so! In the first week after the treatment, however, it is better to refrain from visiting saunas, solariums and swimming pools. It is also important to avoid intensive sport or strong sunlight - keep in mind that the treated area is initially very irritated and susceptible to infections.

DO I HAVE TO HAVE PERMANENT MAKE-UP APPLIED?

Yes, at least if you want to keep it. The durability of the colors that are worked into the skin during the PMU treatment is roughly 1.5 - 3 years on average. This information varies from person to person. Then the colors will lighten over time and gradually fade. I recommend that you have your permanent make-up refreshed about once a year.

WHAT DOES PERMANENT MAKE-UP COST?

The cost of micropigmentation in my studio depends on the type of permanent make-up you want. From full lip shading to subtle eyeliner above/below, I offer you services in different price categories. I can also refresh your permanent make-up for 8 or 18 months if required.

If you have received a PMU from another vendor that you are not satisfied with, then in many cases I can still revise this work. Feel free to ask me individually, I will then give you an estimate of the effort and the price.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PERMANENT MAKE-UP AND MICROBLADING?

The term microblading describes a special subcategory of permanent make-up. Here I work manually without the use of machines and instead use very delicate needles, also known as "blades", to draw the hairs on your eyebrows. Then I gently massage the pigmentation color into the marked areas.

In principle, this technique can be used for different parts of the face, but is usually used primarily for PMU in the area of the eyebrows.

DOES PERMANENT MAKE-UP NEED AN ANESTHETIC?

In principle, no anesthetic is required for permanent make-up. However, my experience shows that different customers react very differently depending on the area treated.

  • Eyebrows: Local anesthesia is almost never asked for here, the vast majority remain completely relaxed during the treatment.

  • Eye / eyelashes: Due to the direct proximity to the eye, many patients are quite tense here. In fact, this procedure is rarely felt to be painful.

If my customers expressly request it, I also carry out a PMU treatment with anesthesia. I then use an ointment or cream that is applied to the area and acts as a local anesthetic.

CAN I ENTER PEOPLE IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE PERMANENT MAKE-UP TREATMENT?

If the treatment took place in the area of the eyes and eyebrows, then you usually only have to fear slight reddening here. These are generally inconspicuous and fade away quickly.

In the lip area, you must expect a short-term swelling after the treatment, which will go away over the course of the same day. As long as you do not subject the areas to any particular strain, there is basically nothing to prevent you from throwing yourself back into everyday life immediately after the permanent make-up treatment.
